Endeavor-backed Nordic Drama Queens hires Swedish Film Institute & SF Studios alum
Endeavor Content-backed prodco Nordic Drama Queens has added Swedish Film Institute and SF Studios alum Helen Ahlsson to its producer ranks.
Ahlsson, who has produced Lisa Langseth’s Pure (Till Det Som är Vackert), will take up her role from 1 September, having most recently been head of Moving Sweden, a Swedish Film Institute-backed scheme aimed at uncovering new talent.
She has also been the Swedish Film Institute’s commissioning editor for international co-productions and Sweden’s representative at Eurimages.
Before that, Ahlsson was a producer at Tre Vänner (now SF Studios) and has also produced Armwrestler from Solitude and Kid Svensk plus The Fjällbacka Murders.
Nordic Drama Queens was founded last year by the former head of drama at Nordic media firm CMore, Josefine Tengblad, along with the ex-MD of Fremantle’s Miso Film Sweden Sandra Harms, and Line Winther Skyum Funch, who was previously CCO of Banijay’s Yellow Bird.
Harms said: “I have worked with Helen on several occasions before and was always impressed by her drive, stubbornness and passion for producing film and TV.
“After years as commissioning editor at Moving Sweden, Helen also has the best possible knowledge on new talent in the industry. That, combined with an extensive experience as a producer, is very unique and something we are thrilled to strengthen the company with.”
It is the second major hire for Nordic Drama Queens this year, following the addition of Eiffel Mattsson – the producer behind Netflix miniseries The Playlist – in February. The prodco is currently working on shows including Cry Wolf (Vargasommar) for TV4/CMore.
