Eccho Rights hires Calinos & Fox alum to drive direct-to-consumer growth

CJ ENM-owned distributor Eccho Rights has hired a Calinos Entertainment exec as director of digital media acquisition & content sales.

Melis Hamamcioglu had been international content sales director for Calinos for the past three years and before that held roles at Fox Networks Group and Digiturk (now beIN). She will be joining the team at Eccho’s London office, which opened in 2021.

Her remit at Eccho includes managing sales of the company’s full catalogue in MENA, Israel and India, as well as handling Turkish drama sales in Western Europe. Her job also contains a newly created remit overseeing the acquisition of shows made specifically for digital platforms.

Fredrik af Malmborg, MD at Eccho Rights, said the appointment came after a busy year particularly regarding the company’s direct-to-consumer business and managing in-house the content represented on digital platforms such as Youtube.

“Having seen the additional value that this is bringing our existing rights holders, we are now ramping up our efforts to identify the next great content that can work specifically on these platforms,” he added.
