Bright Little Labs recruits Wildbrain alum as COO
Warner Bros. Discovery-backed kids media company Bright Little Labs has appointed Wildbrain exec Nick Young as COO.
Founded in 2015 by CEO Sophie Deen, the UK-based firm produces content and products with a focus on inclusive role models and learning inspired stories to teach 21st century digital skills, like computer science, coding and critical thinking.
It is currently in development on animated series Agent Asha, about an 11-year-old from Wembley, London, who is recruited to the top-secret, hi-tech Children’s Spy Agency.
Commencing his new role with immediate effect, Young will scale the organisation, overseeing commercial growth in the D2C and content production/licensing divisions, recruitment, and business operations. He will work closely with Deen to develop a pipeline of new IP and content opportunities.
Prior to joining Bright Little Labs, Nick was head of IP and partnerships at WildBrain, leading on co-production projects Tata and Kuma with Korean studio 5Bricks, Akedo: Ultimate Arcade Warriors with Moose Toys and the digital first emojitown. as well as holding commercial and digital roles at Banijay and NBC Universal, during which time he managed the commercial and brand activities for Downton Abbey.
“Nick is the perfect person to lead Bright Little Labs’ expansion, from growing our brand portfolio and partnerships to capitalising on our multiplatform opportunities. Nick has a wealth of experience in entertainment and licensing, expanding brands globally,” said Deen.
