Discovery+ takes ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ to Dubai in first MENA spin-off
Discovery is launching Say Yes To The Dress: Dubai, the first Middle East-based spin-off of its well-travelled TLC reality format and its tenth local adaptation in EMEA.
It will launch globally on streamer Discovery+ and later on the TLC channel across Europe and South Africa.
The series is produced by Different Productions and filmed at Hazar Haute Couture in Dubai, an exclusive bridal boutique, with this new version presented by Khalil Zein, a renowned Lebanese celebrity stylist.
Say Yes To The Dress: Dubai will feature a diverse roster of 11 brides from nine different nationalities and according to Discovery, will tackle “ground-breaking storylines with intercultural and interreligious couples such as an American bride engaged to her Indian husband-to-be, looking for a white dress and a lehenga for her two weddings.”
Previous iterations of the US format in EMEA have include two in the UK, two in Poland and one each in Ireland, Benelux, Denmark, Finland and Spain.
Lee Hobbs, SVP of pay-TV, global brands & Discovery+, at Discovery, commented: “We’re delighted that Say Yes to the Dress: Dubai is the 10th local version of our biggest bridal franchise. Where feasible, we aim to produce content that has both global and local relevance.
“Say Yes To The Dress: Dubai is, like the other local versions in EMEA, a perfect example of this “glocal” content. It’s exciting that we can offer viewers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) a local version of one of TLC’s most well-loved and recognisable franchises and at the same time, I’m certain viewers from all over the world will enjoy the unique style that the brides in Dubai are known for.”
