Hulu expands unscripted with Corus Studios deals

Deadman’s Curse

Disney-owned streamer Hulu has acquired four unscripted shows following deals with Toronto-based producer and distributor Corus Studios.

The company has pre-sold its 8 x 60-minute series Deadman’s Curse to Hulu, ahead of its debut on Corus-owned History next year. The unscripted series follows indigenous woman Taylor Starr and Kru Pitt, the descendant of US slaves, as they go in search of family gold.

Hulu has also acquired the 10 x 60-minute Project Bakeover, two seasons of restoration series Salvage Kings (20 x 60-minutes) and two seasons of home renovation show Worst To First (20 x 60-minutes) from Corus.

Corus has also hired Pooja Nirmal Kant to oversee sales in Asia and Central Eastern Europe as it expands its worldwide sales team.

Other recent Corus sales include three seasons of Rust Valley Restorers, two seasons of Salvage Kings and one season of Backroad Truckers to Foxtel in Australia, as well as the second season of Salvage Kings to AMC Networks International-owned Blaze in Spain and Portugal.
