NBCU’s Peacock orders ‘Ted’ remake, based on movie franchise

Ted

NBCUniversal (NBCU)’s streamer Peacock has made a straight-to-series order for a TV show based on the 2012 movie Ted.

The live-action show is being produced by NBCU’s Universal Content Productions (UCP) and MRC Television, with the movie’s creator Seth MacFarlane in talks to reprise his role voicing the cuddly bear.

The series will be based on the Universal Pictures and MRC Film’s movie Ted, which was joined by a spin-off – Ted 2 – in 2015. Together, the two movies grossed more than $750m worldwide.

MacFarlane’s prodco Fuzzy Door is also attached, with the creator set to exec produce along with Erica Huggins.

The show marks the second order since MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door signed an overall development deal with UCP in 2020.

Earlier this year, Peacock unveiled The End is Nye, which is hosted by Bill Nye and produced by Fuzzy Door, Universal Television Alternative Studio and UCP.
