Amazon orders ‘Hunted’ & drama duo in France, as originals ambitions broaden

Amazon has expanded its offering in France with three new originals, including two dramas and a local remake of Banijay format Hunted.

The scripted series include Greek Salad, an eight-part series that has been created by Cédric Klapisch and is being co-produced by Ce Qui Me Meut’s Bruno Levy.

The story is based on the movie trilogy Pot Luck (L’Auberge Espagnole) and picks up two decades on from the where the films ended. It follow the children of Xavier and Wendy, from the original movies, as they move to Greece.

The slate also includes relationship drama Miskina, which is another eight-parter and is being produced by French prodco Quad. Co-creators Melha Bedia, Xavier Lacaille and Yoann Gromb are all attached to write, with he show set to debut 2022.

Unscripted & range

A local version of fact ent format Hunted is also in the works, which will be produced by Endemol Shine France and feature celebrities as they attempt to evade former police and investigators.

It is based on the original UK format, created by Shine TV for Channel 4 in the UK, and comes two years since Amazon Prime Video in Italy ordered a local six-part version of the format, which was made available around the world on the streamer.

Amazon has also expanded its movie slate in France, with new time travel comedy Flashback in the works from Legende Film.

Thomas Dubois, head of French originals at Amazon Studios, said: “From drama, spy action, comedy, to exciting new formats on wide-ranging topics like music and social revolution, there isn’t a genre or topic we aren’t considering right now and we’re so excited to be announcing these incredibly varied four new French Amazon original as evidence of our commitment to a completely diverse slate.”
