Fox News Media streamer Fox Nation and German broadcasting group ARD have boarded Plimsoll Productions’ and ITV Studios’ natural history series A Year On Planet Earth.

The companies will serve as the first international co-production partners on the 6 x 60-minute blue-chip factual series, which is being made by Tom Hugh-Jones (Tiny World) and Dr Martha Holmes (Blue Planet) and will be narrated for the UK by actor and comedian Stephen Fry.

The series was originally commissioned by ITV in the UK, with Plimsoll producing in association with ITV Studios.

The series will showcase many of the world’s wonders and aims to reveal the ways in which all life is connected, with massive natural events impacting individual animals. The show will combine extreme weather, spectacular landscapes and wildlife to try to shed new light on how animals react to changing habitats and unexpected events.

A Year On Planet Earth is such an exciting and fresh concept, we’re delighted that Fox Nation and ARD have decided to join us on this epic journey into nature,” said Julie Meldal-Johnsen, EVP of global content at ITV Studios.

“This show has the cream of British natural history talent on board and will bring joy and awe to audiences all over the world.”

Plimsoll has previously worked with ITV on other natural history series, including Life At The Extreme, which followed host David McCall as she travelled to varied environments across different continents.
