Saudi streamer Jawwy TV strikes Discovery deal for shows & networks

Saudi-based streamer Jawwy TV has struck a “long-term partnership” with Discovery, which will see the factual giant’s shows – plus selected originals from its own Discovery+ SVOD – becoming available via the service and on sibling networks.

The deal will allow Jawwy TV subscribers access to a Discovery branded area on the streamer, with shows such as MythBusters, Gold Rush, Expedition Unknown and Say Yes To The Dress available.

Discovery+ originals such as The Impossible Row, Amy Schumer Learns to Cook (Uncensored), and JonBenet Ramsey: What Really Happened? will also be offered.

Jawwy TV subscribers will also receive seven of Discovery’s international linear channels: Discovery Channel, Fatafeat, TLC, Discovery Family, Animal Planet, Discovery Science and Investigation Discovery. More channels will become available, Discovery added.

The factual-focused company added that it would also work with Jawwy TV – which is part of Intigral, the digital media and entertainment arm of the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) – to make streamer Discovery+ available to customers once the SVOD arrived in the region.

Kasia Kieli, president & MD of Discovery EMEA, said the deal marked the first time that its factual channels would be available via an OTT-only service in the region.

Markus Golder, CEO of Intigral, added: “Jawwy TV is the leading content aggregation platform in the MENA region, and we are committed to delivering the widest portfolio of content to our subscribers.”
