Hat Trick International signs first-look deal with Cardiff Productions
Hat Trick International, the distribution arm of UK indie Hat Trick Productions, has signed a first-look deal with Pat Younge and Narinder Minhas’ recently launched outfit Cardiff Productions.
The multi-year agreement, which was brokered by Hat Trick International acquisitions executive Hana Zidek, will see the distributor represent all future factual and scripted programming from the Wales-based prodco for international distribution.
Cardiff Productions launched in May last year after founders and joint-MDs Younge and Minhas exited Sugar Films, with the company working across a range of genres, including documentaries, specialist factual films, returnable formats, scripted series, and digital projects. The company is backed by several industry and accelerator funds, including the BBC and Channel 4.
The prodco is behind shows including Peter: The Human Cyborg, the documentary The Talk, S4C’s competitive walking format Am Dro! and Wales’ Black Miners.
“We’re delighted to be teaming up with Hat Trick International. They have an assured and bespoke approach to working with their many global clients,” said Younge and Minhas. “We look forward to working closely with them from the outset on our new projects, harnessing their hard-earned experience to ensure our programming is seen widely across the globe.”
“Cardiff’s broad range of interesting story ideas, coupled with their plans to produce diverse and innovative content in both the factual and scripted space, really appealed to us,” added Sarah Tong, director of sales at Hat Trick International. “They are a collaborative company with big aspirations and we look forward to helping them develop their global ambitions.”
