Tiger Aspect appoints David Simpson as comedy head

Banijay-owned UK prodco Tiger Aspect has promoted Man Like Mobeen exec producer David Simpson to head of comedy.

Reporting to Banijay UK executive chairman Peter Salmon and CEO Lucinda Hicks, he takes on the role with immediate effect, filling the vacancy left by the departure of Myfanwy Moore last year. He will oversee all production for the genre and lead its creative vision, working closely with writers, producers and talent.

Simpson joined Tiger Aspect in 2015, working across the company’s comedy slate, including seasons 1-3 of Man Like Mobeen for BBC Three, seasons 1-4 of Danny & Mick for CBBC and The Mind Of Herbert Clunkerdunk for BBC Two.

“David is an award-winning talent who has cut his teeth working with some of the best new people in the business,” said Salmon. “We know the world needs to laugh right now and there is a huge opportunity to build on Tiger’s reputation for world class comedy and to find the next big names from all corners of the UK. David is a talent spotter extraordinaire and absolutely the man to take Tiger comedy to the next level.
