Japan’s Nippon TV buys Turkish remake of its scripted format ‘Mother’
Japan’s Nippon TV has picked up broadcast and streaming rights to Turkish drama Anne, a remake of its own scripted series Mother.
The Turkish remake will air on BS Nippon TV and on Hulu in Japan from 3 September 2020. BS Nippon TV has already aired the Korean remake of the show.
“This is the first time that a Japanese TV drama has made such a global leap,” said Hisashi Tsugiya, producer at Nippon TV’s production division.
“I am so proud that Mother has now become one of the most exported scripted formats out of Asia. We realised that the problems of modern society and values of family are universal themes,” she said.
Anne, which is produced by famed Turkish prodco MF Yapim, has been sold into more than 40 countries.
