Disney TV studios drop Fox name in major rebrand

Disney Television Studios has launched a major rebranding of its three studios, with ABC Studios and its subsidiary ABC Signature merging into one studio titled ABC Signature.

Fox 21 Television Studios will become Touchstone Television, while 20th Century Fox Television becomes 20th Television.

The rebrand, which was overseen by Disney Television Studios president Craig Hunegs, comes almost 18 months after Disney’s $71.3bn acquisition of key 21st Century Fox assets, and seven months since the Mouse House dropped the ‘Fox’ name from Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures.

ABC Signature president Jonnie Davis will lead the merged studio, while Bert Salke and Carolyn Cassidy will remain as heads of their respective Touchstone and 20th Television studios.

“Our new studio names and logos mark a new day for ABC Signature, 20th Television and Touchstone Television while honoring their rich histories and the creative power of The Walt Disney Company,” said Craig Hunegs.

“Dana [Walden] and I could not be more pleased with the first year of our three studios together as part of Disney Television Studios and we believe that with our powerhouse talent roster and exceptional studio teams, the best is yet to come.”

On the slate for the combined Disney Television Studios are a range of new fall and midseason shows, including Big Sky and Call Your Mother for ABC; Genius: Aretha for Nat Geo; Woke, Books of Blood, Dopesick, Mysterious Benedict Society and Only Murders In The Building for Hulu; Big Shots, Mighty Ducks, Turner & Hooch and Just Beyond for Disney+; Impeachment: American Crime Story and Old Man for FX on Hulu; Filthy Rich and Next for Fox; and Hoops and Ratched for Netflix.
