Walter Presents welcomes Russian ‘Gold Diggers’ to UK
Non-English language scripted streamer Walter Presents has acquired Russian oligarch drama Gold Diggers for its service in the UK.
The eight-part show, from Russia’s Yellow, Black & White Group and its production arm Start Studios, explores the relationships between power, money, and sex among Moscow’s high society.
The story follows a female cop who penetrates this world whilst investigating a crime and becomes seduced by the lifestyle. Start Studios duo Konstantin Bogolomov and Irina Sosnovaya are attached as show runner.
Gold Diggers debuted on Yellow, Black & White Group’s Russian streamer Start with 15 million views for the first season, according to the company, with a second debuting recently. The Walter Presents deal was handled by French distributor Oble.
Walter Presents co-founder Walter Iuzzolino described the show as “a riveting Russia series about desire, manipulation and the corrupting power of money – a glamorous modern day dynasty set amongst the rich and beautiful in contemporary Moscow.”
Dariaa Bondarenko, EVP of international acquisitions, development and co-production at Yellow, Black and White Group, added: “Gold Diggers is a fantastic ensemble show, featuring some of Russia’s best talent in-front and behind the camera. It’s ostentatious, racy and intriguing and gives viewers a tantalising ring-side seat to the fictionalised world of Russian oligarchs, their mistresses, money, wives and lives.”
