Korea’s CJ ENM strikes first-look format deal with Keshet’s Tresor TV

South Korea’s CJ ENM has struck a first-look deal with Keshet International’s Germany production company Tresor TV.

The deal, which started from 1 June, covers scripted as well as non-scripted formats and follows the partnership between the Korean firm and Tresor TV on 300: War Of United Voices, which debuted on ProSiebenSat.1 in March.

Tresor TV is behind local versions of primetime entertainment formats such as Masters Of Dance and Curvy Supermodel, but also produces comedies and dramas.

The company, which became KI’s first acquisition in 2017, has also optioned other CJ ENM formats such as I Can See Your Voice and Shadow Singer. The prodco launched a scripted arm to Keshet titles as Prisoners Of War, The A Word and When Heroes Fly in 2018.

Axel Kuehn, Tresor TV’s MD, said: “Having already established a close and successful relationship with CJ ENM over the past years, we are more than happy to deepen our business relationship with this first-look agreement. Furthermore, we are excited to extend this collaboration beyond unscripted formats, into scripted as well.”

He added: “Tresor’s scripted division Keshet Tresor Fiction has established itself extremely fast in the German market, so we are convinced that we are the perfect partner for CJ ENM’s amazing catalogue of scripted formats.”

Jangho Seo, SVP for content business at CJ ENM, said: “With our unique formats and the production power of Tresor TV, we are looking forward to work together to bring more content into the German market.”
