Movistar+ prepares TV epic with Shine Iberia about legendary musician Miguel Bosé
Movistar+ in Spain has partnered with Shine Iberia and US-based prodcos Elefantec Global and Legacy Rock Entertainment on a new drama about musician Miguel Bosé.
The production companies have acquired exclusive life-story rights to the actor and recording artist, with a TV adaptation now being developed. The show will focus on the life of Bosé, who has sold more than 40 million records, and will be overseen by Shine Iberia’s CEO, Macarena Rey (Masterchef, 21 Días).
Elefantec Global, the media and entertainment company from Jose ‘Pepe’ Baston, will co-produce and distribute the series with recently formed LA- and Miami-based prodco Legacy Rock across Mexico and Latin America.
Bosé, who is the son of Spanish bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguín and movie star Lucia Bosé, spent his youth surrounded by famous artists including Picasso, Dalí and Andy Warhol. The show will explore the turbulent relationship Bosé had with both his mother and father, as well as tracking his path to stardom, his multiple personal relationships and his role in developing Spanish-language pop music.
“This project represents an amazing challenge for Shine Iberia. Miguel Bosé is an icon for Spanish speaking audiences worldwide,” said Rey. “To talk about Bosé is to walk through the history of Spanish music over the last decades. He is a fascinating character with a unique and intense life story. We are certain that this TV series will be a big event for all Spanish speaking music lovers.”
Bastón added: “We see the growing demand of premium content for the Spanish-speaking viewers around the world and across many different platforms, and this series has everything: drama, love, struggle, growth, forgiveness that will appeal to viewers around the world.”
Elefantec is focused on serving the global Latino audience and is based in LA, Miami and Mexico City. The firm was founded by Baston, Jeff Symon, Carlos Martinez, Carlos Sandoval, Antonio Alonso and Daniel Ucros, and has 50 shows in development, including dramas, biopics, comedies, thrillers and scripted reality.
Legacy Rock, recently founded by Amir Agai and Antonio Mauri, specialises in the development and production of multi-platform content geared toward the US, Latin and international markets.
