Veteran HBO PR exec Mara Mikialian to leave

Mara Mikialian

HBO’s senior VP of media relations is leaving the company after 36 years.

The veteran PR executive led the public relations campaigns for HBO’s Game Of Thrones across all eight of its seasons.

Mikialian is the latest in a string of executive departures at HBO after Bob Greenblatt was named WarnerMedia Entertainment chairman in March, leading to the exit of HBO CEO Richard Plepler.

Nancy Lesser, HBO’s long-serving head of communications to whom Mikialian reported, left in October. Head of corporate communications Quentin Schaffer departed in July after 39 years at HBO.

WarnerMedia is merging its communications departments under Kevin Brockman, who joined in May from Disney.

Mikialian started her PR career in the music industry, and she joined HBO in 1983. Her most recent role saw her in charge of overseeing publicity campaigns for HBO series, specials, limited series and movies.
