HBO Max names Disney, TBS alums for animation and family roles
HBO Max has appointed former TBS original programming exec Billy Wee to oversee animation and named a former Disney exec to work across its kids output.
Wee becomes SVP of original animation for the streaming service while Nikki Reed has been named VP of kids and family scripted originals. Both report to Jennifer O’Connell, EVP of original non-fiction and kids for HBO Max, which is set to launch in spring 2020.
Earlier this week, WarnerMedia outlined the leadership team that will develop the non-content side of its forthcoming streamer, with two Otter Media execs appointed to key roles.
The team will be led by Otter CEO Tony Goncalves, who will report to WarnerMedia chairman Robert Greenblatt, and is responsible for areas including product design, customer experience and lifecycle, as well as customer data and business development.
Andy Forssell is charged with HBO Max operations in the role of EVP and general manager of WarnerMedia direct-to-consumer. Last month, the streamer unveiled its original non-fiction team, with with execs from CNN, Karga Seven and Pulse Creative joining.
