ITV travels with ‘Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail’
UK commercial broadcaster ITV has ordered a documentary series that follows comedian Billy Connolly exploring Scottish people’s influence in the US from Banijay Group-backed producer Wonder.
Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail (3 x 60 minutes, pictured) will follow Connolly as he travels to little-visited parts of the US to explore the migratory journey of the Scots and their influence on America.
The show was was commissioned by Jo Clinton Davis, controller of factual for ITV, and is executive produced by Mike Reilly at Wonder. Banijay Rights will distribute globally.
Reilly said: “This series will show a side to America and to Billy Connolly that has never been seen before. It is a privilege to be working with such an amazing talent, and to bring his unique view of the world to our screens.”
