Showtime expands deal with ‘Billions’ creators

Billions co-creators and executive producers Brian Koppelman and David Levien have signed an expanded deal with Showtime.

As part of the deal, the pair will continue to act as showrunners on the hit drama, and will also exclusively develop new projects for the network.

The deal comes soon after Billions, which stars Damien Lewis and Paul Giamatti, was greenlit for a fifth series.

“Brian and David are uniquely talented creators and producers, with the ability to deliver dynamic, meaningful drama week after week that not only taps into the zeitgeist, but also redefines it,” said Showtime entertainment president Jana Winograde in a statement.

“They are both wildly imaginative and able to tell stories that are emotionally grounded — a truly compelling combination. We look forward to enjoying future seasons of Billions, as well as seeing what other exciting series will emerge from their incisive minds.”

Billions is regarded as an increasingly important series for Showtime, which this year will say farewell to both Homeland and The Affair.
