BBC’s ‘MotherFatherSon’ strikes global sales
BBC Studios has struck a raft of global sales for Richard Gere-fronted drama MotherFatherSon ahead of its international premiere at Series Mania 2019 this week.
Sales for the eight-part thriller range from HBO (pan-CEE), TVNZ (New Zealand), RTP2 (Portugal) and RUV (Iceland) to Catchplay (Taiwan), Zee Café (India) and Amedia (Russia). Elsewhere it will be shown on BBC First in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and South Africa.
From bestselling author and Emmy-nominated writer Tom Rob Smith (The Assassination of Gianni Versace), the eight-part series follows a fractured family at the heart of politics and power, pulled together under catastrophic circumstances.
The title, which is produced by BBC Studios, will have its premiere in Lille 26 March at 7pm at the UGC cinema, as part of Series Mania’s International Panorama screenings. Director James Kent will be in attendance.
Cast members include Gere, Helen McCrory (Peaky Blinders, Harry Potter) and Billy Howle (Witness for the Prosecution, On Chesil Beach), Sarah Lancashire (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax), Paul Ready (Bodyguard, Ripper Street), Danny Sapiani (Black Panther), Joseph Mawle (Game of Thrones) and Sinéad Cusack (Call The Midwife).
