Televisa boards TRX platform

Online licensing platform TRX has signed up Spanish media giant Televisa.

The Mexico-headquartered business is adding more than 2,000 hours of content to the service, which enables buyers and sellers to maximise the value of TV rights.

Launched in 2017, TRX now has more than 1,000 registered buyers and more than 70,000 hours of content available on the service. Around 100 distributors are signed up, including TCB Media Rights, BBC Studios, Lionsgate, Studiocanal, Sky Vision, All3Media and Off the Fence.

The platform – which last year shifted from a transaction-based service to a subscription model – has secured more than US$20m from investors including Sky Ventures, the Channel 4 Growth Fund and Edge Investments.

Matthew Frank, CEO of TRX, said: “Having the support of a powerhouse like Televisa is a significant endorsement for TRX. The management team see the value in what we have created in enabling more deals with less hassle. We are incredibly proud to be welcoming them on board the platform. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in Latin America.”
