History exec returns to Discovery fold for development role
History exec Sean Boyle is to return to Discovery as senior VP of development.
The former VP of development at Discovery is returning to the fold after three years at History, where he served as VP of development and production.
Based in Los Angeles, the exec is to oversee the network’s strategic planning, content direction and exec programming strategies across development.
Previously at Discovery, Boyle was responsible for greenlighting such series as Fast N’ Loud and Street Outlaws.
Over at History, he created the annual Car Week.
Boyle is to report into Nancy Daniels, chief brand officer for Discovery and Factual.
Daniels said: “[Boyle’s] experience in growing and broadening an audience, along with his knowledge of Discovery, make him the perfect choice as Discovery continues to build an even greater slate of programs for on-air and multiplatform.”
The appointment was first reported by US trade outlet Deadline.
