C4 orders Generation Porn from Story Films

Channel 4 (C4) has ordered landmark documentary trilogy Generation Porn from Story Films, which will explore the influence of the modern internet porn epidemic.

The cyber porn industry sports more traffic than Netflix and Twitter combined, with the online giant Porn Hub reporting in 2017 that it catered to 28.5bn visitors.

The series explores the demand for porn, and its impact on attitudes and relationships, examining a number of narratives from across the world that show the growing impact that free, easy-to-access porn is having on the lives of adults and children.

C4’s Charlotte Desai commissioned the title, and Philippa Robinson will act as series director. Executive producers include David Nath and Peter Beard.

The series will also meet those trying to cash in on the porn ‘gold rush’ and the online giants dominating an industry said to be worth $100bn globally.

Robinson said: “Through the characters we meet, the juxtaposition of stories and the key exchanges Generation Porn will illustrate how the porn industry exploded and the consequences for all of us.”
