Channel 5 makes a Cold Call
Channel 5 in the UK has commissioned a new 4 x 60’ drama for transmission next summer. Cold Call, which will star Sally Lindsay, follows the aftermath of a fraudulent call that turns a single mother’s world upside down.
Commissioned by Channel 5 commissioning executive Sebastian Cardwell, the broadcaster says it “underlines Channel 5’s ambition to give emerging talent an opportunity to produce scripted programming for prime time terrestrial TV.”
Channel 5 director of programmes Ben Frow said, “The commission of Cold Call demonstrates our ambition to offer talented emerging indies the opportunity to deliver brilliant drama in prime time. Cold Call is not for the faint hearted and will have viewers hooked from beginning to end.”
The series is written by creative duo Karyn Dougan-Buckland and Mark Buckland, and will go into production later this year, airing on Channel 5 in 2019.
