A&E’s Royal Wedding TV movie racks up 30 deals
With just a few days to go before the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (May 19), A+E Networks has revealed that more than 30 broadcasters have acquired its TV movie, Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance. Following sales of the 2-hour TV movie to the likes of Channel 5 (UK) and TF1 (France) last month, the fictionalised version of Harry and Meghan’s romance has now been sold to RTL2 (Germany), RTI Mediaset (Italy) and SBS (Netherlands) among others.
Commenting on the deals, Richard Tulk-Hart, managing director, international content distribution + co-productions, said: “We are pleased with the enthusiasm among buyers for our newest TV movie and look forward to fulfilling the needs of our broadcast partners with an increased volume of productions such as this in the future.”
Produced for day-and-date delivery to broadcasters before the royal wedding, the TV movie explores how the relatively unknown American actress managed to sweep the world’s most eligible bachelor off his feet. Other new TV movie titles coming through from A+E Networks include: Watcher in the Woods, Story of a Girl, Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland, and Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer.
