French indie Elephant Group and online media group Webedia Entertainment have created a new production joint venture, Elephant Entetainment, to create and produce projects for online platforms and TV.
Together the companies aim to attract new talent to produce fiction, documentary and entertainment formats across platforms.
The new label will aim to combine Elephant’s production capability, production knowledge and story-telling prowess with Webedia’s understanding of the current social media landscape, access to Youtube stars and other influencers and unparalleled understanding of online funding models and relationships with key brands.
The first three projects are already in development : a short-form fiction series, a ‘live’ event game show and also a major brand-funded entertainment series.
“Elephant Entertainment is a new phase in the development of Elephant, and one in which we will be making significant investment,” said Emmanuel Chain, co-CEO Elephant Group.
“We are keen to work a new generation of talent in the digital space and are delighted to be partnering with Webedia both in France and internationally.”
