Twofour & ITV cousin to coproduce in US

David Eilenberg croppedTwofour Group’s US programming will have cousin ITV America (ITVA) attached as a coproducer from now on.

A deal between ITVA and Twofour America means the former’s in-house arm, ITV Creative, will coproduce programmes and formats from the latter.

Twofour’s US arm in turn gets access to ITVA’s infrastructure and resources.

As a result, new Twofour format Change Your Tune, which broadcaster parent ITV recently commissioned in the UK, is now in development with ITVA.

Change Your Tune uses the same ‘time travel’ motif as Twofour formats such as This Time Next Year, which is one of the biggest selling new formats on the market.

Over each episode hour, the show sees five terrible singers go through a transformational year to retune their vocal chords before returning to sing off against each other. The audience the decides the winner.

Twofour and ITVA are both part of British network ITV. ITVA was previously known as ITV Studios US, and incorporates Leftfield Entertainment, whose moniker was dropped earlier this year.

ITV Entertainment president David Eilenberg (pictured) will work closely with Twofour America to facilitate the pact.

“Working closely with Melanie [Leach] and Andrew [Mackenzie] at Twofour America, we look forward to a great collaboration and to producing compelling content for the US marketplace across genres and platforms,” said Eilenberg, whose unit oversees reality TV production for ITVA.

“Since joining the ITV family, Twofour has built a strong relationship with ITV America and has already co-produced a number of hit Twofour shows with them including Edge of Alaska and A Night with My Ex,” said Leach.

“We’re looking forward to building on that relationship and bringing Change Your Tune and a number of other exciting new UK formats to the US market together.”
