SVT buys Anglo-Welsh drama Bang
SVT in Sweden has bought crime drama Bang, which was created in both English and Welsh.
Bang premiered on Welsh pubcaster S4C earlier this month and was sold to SVT by Banijay Rights.
The 8x60mins drama is produced by Joio and Artists Studio for S4C. Set in the steel town of Port Talbot, it features a loner named Sam, who has his life transformed when he comes into possession of a gun and starts to break the law.
Bang is one of many dramas that will Banijay us taking to MIPCOM, with others including The Restaurant, a 10×60 minute family saga about love, conflict and bertrayal produced by Banijay’s Jarowskij, in collaboration with SVT, Viaplay and Film i Väst.
Banijay will also launch Juda, a 8×45 minute thriller produced by United Studios of Israel for pay TV service Hot. In addition, the distributor will launch Occupied, Wolf Creek, Secret Daughter and others.
Earlier this year, SVT also acquired a wide range of programming from BBC Worldwide, including series such as Top of the Lake: China Girl , which stars Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies) and Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones).
