Kanal D claims to be the only player in the Turkish market with a dedicated coproduction division as it looks to bring in new business models to co-develop for a range of series.
The new division will be focusing on developing “creative business models” for scripted film, non-scripted, docu-dramas and miniseries targeted to a global market.
Endemol Shine Turkey’s Nilufer Kuyel has joined Kanal D as director of coproductions and foreign investments to strengthen the new business.
Kuyel will be heading the co-production division and she will be directly working with Ozge Bulut Marasli (pictured), CEO at Kanal D.
At Endemol Shine Turkey, she was head of acquisitions and format developments. However, Endemol Shine Group shuttered the prodco after firing its senior management, including Hakan Eren and Gokan Tatarer, over allegations of mismanagement.
The dispute rumbles on, with various legal issues over licenses and distribution rights not yet settled.
Previously, Kanal D International sealed a co-pro deal with Chile’s Mega and aims to expand its operations both in Lat Am and other territories.
