Scandinavia’s SF Studios launches UK office
Scandinavia’s SF Studios is launching a UK office that will focus on international production of feature films and high-end TV drama.
The studio has appointed film exec Kate Myers to lead the London-based office as VP of development for UK and international production.
While the initial slate is heavily film-focused, senior VP of international production Fredrik Wikström Nicastro told TBI high-end TV drama was planned for the development slate.
Last year, SF Studios hired former Endemol Nordics CEO Michael Porseryd (pictured) as its CEO, replacing Jonas Fors. At the time, Porseryd talked of plans to turn the business into “Europe’s most exciting film studio”.
The studio, established 98 years ago as Svensk Filmindustri, has a slate of scripted TV and film projects on its slate, and the launch of the UK arm will push it further into high-end coproduction.
“I look forward to work alongside Fredrik Wikström Nicastro and the rest of the team to build a dynamic and exciting slate, continuing the studio’s strong legacy of collaborating with outstanding Scandinavian talent,” said Myers, who joins from film prodco Forward Films.
She launched Forward with Tracy Brimm, and has previously worked at Jonathan Glazer’s Academy Films and Matthew Vaughn and Guy Ritchie’s prodco, SKA Films.
She joins SF Studios effective immediately.
