Sky Vision & Welsh gov’t partner for factual slate
Sky Vision, the international distribution and production arm of Sky, and the Welsh Government will be working on a range of new factual projects funded by the authority.
The projects will receive investment as part of the Welsh Entertainment and Factual Fund, which supports the development of new programming from Wales.
In addition to supporting early development of TV content, the fund will also be used to create pilots from production companies based in Wales and from UK based companies looking to produce shows in Wales.
The series include the 20×30 One Star to Five Star for Channel 4 produced by Blink Films Wales, the 3×60 The Climate Change for S4C by Telesgop Productions and the development of two further projects from Orchard Media and Folk Films, which are yet to be greenlit.
Barney Shingleton (pictured), director of factual and entertainment at Sky Vision, said: “The Welsh Fund was set up by the Welsh Government and Sky Vision to support the development of internationally appealing factual content from Wales, and we delighted that these investments are achieving precisely that.
“There are plenty more projects in the pipeline and we look forward to announcing further investments in the near future. Our hope is that this will encourage more companies to come forward with great new content opportunities which can be produced out of Wales.”
