Endemol Shine & DNF create El Clan

Scripted-logo-460_2El ClanEndemol Shine Latino, a division of Endemol Shine North America, and DNF Pictures are producing El Clan, a scripted series that tells the behind-the-scenes story of a big scandal in Latin music history.

The series is based on Maria Raquenel Portillo’s (pictured) forthcoming biography that looks at how Portillo and her teenage pop group Boquitas Pintadas became embroiled in a controversy which saw them being accused of corrupting minors, kidnapping and other offences by Mexican authorities.

Endemol Shine Latino and DNF Pictures are currently in discussions with potential networks and platforms for the series.

“We are very excited to be a part of this project that finally gives a voice to Raquenel,” said Mauricio Piccone, executive VP of Endemol Shine Latino.

He added: “This series will be an opportunity to finally tell the true story behind all the rumors and speculation that has been in the public eye for decades.

“Raquenel’s transparency, honesty and growth as a person has been remarkable and will allow us to tell this incredibly heart-breaking story of broken promises and lost dreams, all wrapped in the pop Latin music scene of the eighties and nineties.”

Endemol Shine Latino oversees all Spanish-language production, format sales and development in both the US and Mexico, as well as Spanish and Portuguese-language business across all of Latin America, for the Endemol Shine Group.
