Amazon acquires Sky’s Tin Star
Amazon has acquired Tin Star for the US from UK-based distributors Endemol Shine International and Sky Vision.
The series will debut on Amazon Prime Video in the US later this year, following its debut on UK pay TV platform Sky.
Last week, Amazon US bought rights to FremantleMedia-sold Australian drama Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Tin Star is 10×60 epic series written by Rowan Joffe (28 Weeks Later), and stars Tim Roth (The Hateful Eight) and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men).
The series tells the story of a former British detective turned small town police chief who brings his family to the tiny and tranquil town of Little Big Bear for a better life in the US, only for a brutal crime to shatter the peace.
The show is produced by Kudos’ Jonathan Curling (The Secret) and executive produced by Alison Jackson (Hunted).
Tin Star is jointly distributed by Endemol Shine International and Sky Vision, both of which are backed by 21st Century Fox, and will air on Sky Atlantic UK later in 2017.
