Vimeo names new CEO
Vimeo, the ad-free open video platform and operating business of IAC, has appointed Anjali Sud as chief executive officer.
Sud was previously general manager and senior vice president of Vimeo’s flagship creator business. She has taken over the role from Vimeo’s interim CEO, Joey Levin, who remains chief executive of IAC.
Levin had taken on the role upon the exit of Kerry Trainor.
In her new role, Sud will oversee strategy and operations for all of Vimeo.
“Vimeo is entering an exciting chapter with a renewed focus on the core value that makes our brand special and beloved around the globe – being the number one platform to empower video creators,” said Sud.
Sud has been with Vimeo since 2014, hired initially to lead marketing, where she drove significant revenue growth through customer acquisition and retention, international expansion and brand building. In 2016 she was elevated to general manager and senior VP, to oversee the operations of Vimeo’s core SaaS (software as a service) business for creators.
Prior to Vimeo, Sud held various positions in e-commerce and media at Amazon and Time Warner.
For Vimeo, the news comes after it shelved a plan to launch an SVOD service that would be programmed with acquisitions and original content. TBI had revealed a number of senior content hires to this end in March, but those three execs – Alana Mayo, Kesila Childers and Kelly Miller – have since left.
