Kevin Hart’s Lionsgate-backed VOD net set for launch
Kevin Hart’s Lionsgate-backed VOD service Loud Out Loud will debut in August with a raft of original shows.
Comedic talents such as GloZell, King Bach, Emmanuel Hudson, DC Young Fly and Drama Michelle are creating original content for the OTT service, which debuts on August 3.
It will also feature up and coming and established stand-ups in sections Hart is curating. This will include a partnership with North American comedy festival Just For Laughs.
The original shows include Dormtainment’s Black Geo, a satirical investigation series about the origins of black culture.
Campus Law comes from the Laugh Out Loud Presents: Just For Laughs Eat My Shorts pitch, and follows three recent college graduates who decide to become security guards on their old campus,
Dead House is a scripted comedy from Andrew Bachelor (King Bach) about a human who joins the cast of a reality show in which four zombies live together.
Additionally, stand-up series Def Comedy Jam will be available for streaming for the first time, while Hotline Ad is a follow up to Gangster Party Line.
Inglorious Pranksters comes from comedian Jo Koy and celebrates the best online comedy pranks, while Just for Laughs 2016 will feature 104 comics in 52 15-minute episodes.
Laugh Out Loud will be a free app, which can be accessed ad-free for US$2.99 a month, which is a similar model to that Hulu employs in the US.
“Funny has no color or gender. With our friends at Lionsgate, we are creating a global network that gives a platform to the next generation of diverse comedians from all over the world, of all ethnicities, to tell their stories,” says Kevin Hart. “Our culture of comedy is unfiltered and inclusive. Most importantly, we exist to make the world laugh.”
