Raw taps Century Films’ Evans for factual role
All3Media-owned producer Raw has appointed Century Films’ Liesel Evans as its creative director of UK factual.
Evans joins from Century, which is behind Channel 4’s Bouncers and Married Behind Bars, BBC Four’s Mumbai High – The Musical and B is for Book and ITV’s Parking Wars.
The news comes soon after Raw named Louise Norman head of US documentaries and senior VP of special projects.
Both hires followed Raw becoming part of UK-based production group All3, which acquired the company along with Bear Grylls: Mission Survive firm Betty from parent Discovery Communications.
Earlier this week, TBI revealed Betty co-managing directors Matthew Littleford and Neil Smith were leaving that firm following an internal review that followed the sale.
Raw is known for docs such as Race to the White House and Flatpack: The World’s Biggest Furniture Store, and reality series including Discovery Channel’s highest rating show, Gold Rush, and Homestead Rescue.
“We see high-end factual productions in the UK as a massively important part of our strategy going forward, and Liesel is the perfect person to spearhead that effort,” said Raw founder and CEO Dimitri Doganis.
