3 Ball partners with indie producer Halpern

Formats-logo-460_2Rebecca HalpernLA-based 3 Ball Entertainment has signed a coproduction deal with indie producer Rebecca Halpern.

The deal will see 3 Ball and Rebecca Halpern Productions developing unscripted and scripted content for television, OTT services and digital platforms.

“Several” projects are already underway, according to 3 Ball co-CEOs Todd A. Nelson and Ross Weintraub.

Halpern was previously VP of development at Outpost Entertainment, which is part of the ITV America stable.

She is best known for producing shows such as Animal Planet’s Animal Witness, Oxygen’s Snapped, A&E’s After the First 48 and History’s Gangland.

“With a proven track record of developing and producing sharp, substantive content, Rebecca’s taste and perspective felt like a natural fit for 3 Ball,” the 3 Ball bosses said in a statement.

“We look forward to breaking new programming ground with her as well as adding such a talented and fresh voice to our roster of new projects.”

Halpern is currently working on a separate production with Outpost, Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis and his ImageMovers label on a forthcoming scripted/unscripted hybrid project that she created.

Halpern said she and 3Ball had “shared sensibilities and development styles” that would “make for a rich partnership”.

The news comes just under half a year after Nelson renewed his deal at 3 Ball, formerly known as Eyeworks USA, for another two years.
