CBS names Castallo successor

Formats-logo-460_2Sharon VuongCBS has gone in-house to find a successor to network alternative programming chief Chris Castallo.

Sharon Vuong has been upped to senior VP, alternative programmng at CBS Entertainment.

She is promoted from a VP, alternative series development post, and will succeed Casatallo, who exits this summer when his contract runs out.

Effective immediately, she will report to CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller, who recently went on medical leave after suffering a heart attack.

The news comes a week after CBS’s production arm, CBS Television Studios, hired former VH1 unscripted chief Susan Levison as SVP, alternative programming.

Vuong joined CBS in 2011 at director level before being promoted to VP in 2012 and taking on her most recent post a year after that.

She has developed shows such as Critical Content’s The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey, upcoming game show Candy Crush and Ambulance, which is CBS’s high rating remake of the BBC One medical responders format that Endemol Shine produces and distributes.

In her new role, Vuong will oversee new reality series, game shows and programmes from other unscripted genres. She’ll also oversee the existing slate of reality series, which include Big Brother, The Amazing Race and Undercover Boss.
