Dot. travels to Piwi+, Panda, SVT
Several European broadcasters have bought Randi Zuckerberg-created kids series Dot.
Canal+-owned Piwi+ in France, Dreamia-owned Canal Panda in Portugal and Swedish pubcaster SVT have all plumped for the 52x11mins toon, which debuted last year on CBC in Canada and Sprout in the US.
Jim Jam has taken rights in the MENA and Benelux territories, while Israel Education Television is also a buyer.
The show, which is also on Hulu in the US, comes from Industrial Brothers in association with CBC and The Jim Henson Company, which also sells the international rights.
Henson has also sold broadcast rights to 80x11mins PBS Kids toon Splash and Bubbles to TVO Ontario and Knowledge Network in British Columbia, both of which hail from Canada.
Henson produces the series, with Herschend Studios – the media arm of Harlem Globetrotters company Herschend Enterprises – providing support. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the National Science Foundation part-fund the toon.
