Young Bear Grylls toon series underway
Survival expert and presenter Bear Grylls will be the star of a new animated series inspired by the adventures and exploits of his childhood years.
Matt Hatter Chronicles producer Platinum Films will make and distribute the series, Young Bear Grylls, which has been put together with Bear Grylls Ventures.
The partners have formed YBG Films Limited to make the toon series.
The show will be based on the heroic escapades and the epic missions of the Grylls during his younger years, the producers said.
“Young Bear Grylls will tap into everything that Bear Grylls represents – adventure, courage, survival and friendship,” said Nigel Stone, CEO of Pinewood Studios-based Platinum Films.
“It will have that quintessential ‘James Bond Britishness’ and will appeal to kids and families worldwide.”
No broadcast or L&M partners are in place yet, but Platinum said the “format has already started to capture the attention of the global television market”.
“Young Bear Grylls is all about bringing the spirit of adventure and exploration to young kids in a way that fires their imagination, and brings out the survivor in them all,” said Grylls.
“Platinum are best in class and the vision for the series is totally original, translatable, enduring and exciting – the journey begins.”
