Mediacorp hires Twitter exec for digital
Singaporean media giant Mediacorp has hired former Twitter and Apple exec Parminder (Parry) Singh as its chief digital officer.
Singh’s most recent position was MD, Southeast Asia, MEA, Africa and India at Twitter. Prior to that he was a sales MD at Google, covering the Asia Pacific region.
At Mediacorp he will be chief digital officer, a new role that combines what was previously two positions at the company, which has a raft of free TV, pay TV and digital interests in Singapore and Malaysia.
“Our monetisation efforts need to be more closely aligned with our digital product development, operations, audience acquisition and content marketing efforts,” said Shaun Seow, CEO, Mediacorp.
“In our continuous search for talent, this meant that if we found a candidate qualified and willing to head the Commercial and Digital groups, we would combine the leadership roles to accelerate our progress in both areas. Parry will help us chart our digital roadmap ahead, broadening and deepening our engagement with online audiences.”
Singh added: “The convergence of online and offline offers exciting possibilities. I’m particularly thrilled by the opportunity to combine Mediacorp’s digital and mainstream media assets to deliver more complete and compelling solutions for our clients.”
