US SVOD launch for Serbian drama
US not for profit broadcaster MHZ Networks has released The Scent of Rain in the Balkans on its streaming service MHz Choice in a move it claims marks the first time a Serbian TV series has bowed in the US.
The show is a dramatisation of Gordana Kuić’s novel and was directed by Serbian actor and director Ljubiša Samardžić.
The period drama follows a Jewish family in Serbia from 1914 through to 1945.
MHz has been picking up international drama for its Choice SVOD service. As well as the Serbian family saga, recent additions include Nordic Noir Kommissarie Winter and a new season of Swiss drama Der Bestatter (The Undertaker).
All international programming is subtitled in English.
The channel’s SVOD service is part of the Amazon channels service and is also available via Roku and dedicated Android and iOS apps.
