Azteca moves for Ukrainian paranormal format

Formats-headermystical tales film UAMexican US Hispanic broadcaster Azteca America has greenlit a local version of Mystical Tales, the paranormal docudrama from Ukraine’s Film.UA.

The series recreates events that allegedly have paranormal elements, before a panel of experts – ranging from psychologist and doctors to witches and ESP specialists – review the evidence and state their conclusion.

In the US, Azteca America will puts its version into production this spring.

The Film.UA format has already travelled extensively within the central and eastern Europe and CIS regions with local versions made in Hungary, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

In Ukraine it has aired for six years on the STB channel, running to seven seasons and winning an average share of about 11% in the 18-to-54 demo.

Azteca America is the US Hispanic offshoot of Mexican free TV broadcaster Azteca.
