Boat Rocker & Cisneros sign ‘long-term’ deal
Canada’s Boat Rocker Rights and a subsidiary of Venezuela’s Cisneros Media Distribution have signed a “long-term” coproduction and distribution agreement.
This will see Boat Rocker and Mobius.Lab Productions coproducing and co-distributing ten programmes, with Boat Rocker selling them into English-language markets and CMD, which is part of Latin American broadcaster Cisneros, doing the same in Spanish-language markets over multiple years.
Both Boat Rocker and Mobius.Lab are relatively new companies. The former was created when Temple Street Media became Boat Rocker Media and Mobius.Lab is the result of an accord between Cisneros and Getty Images Latam to create programming using the millions of images and videos the latter owns.
The ten series under the agreement will also comprise 13 episodes in English and Spanish, ranging on themes including paranormal, crime and history, nature and wildlife, and popular science and technology.
Boat Rocker will also begin selling Mobius.Lab programmes such as The Rise of Terrorism, Super Genius, XRC: Extreme Reality Clips and Flame of Passion.
“Cisneros Media has introduced an exciting new business model by efficiently producing content using the extraordinary, high-quality imagery from Getty Images’ library, and together we will co-develop new globally accessible programmes that address the multiplatform needs of our clients,” said Boat Rocker Rights president Jon Rutherford.
