Sky doc World’s Most Evil Killers head to RTL
German free TV giant RTL has prebought Sky UK’s World’s Most Evil Killers.
The true crime series is being produced by UK indie Woodcut Media for Sky’s free-to-air Pick channel and will debut later this year.
Pick ordered two separate but related shows Britain’s Most Evil Killers and World’s Most Evil Killers.
Keshet International, which is distributing, has repackaged them into a single 20-episode offering and presold the shows to RTL.
“Real crime is an important programme genre for RTL Group,” said Agnes Ostrop, head of special projects, RTL. “I greatly look forward to working with our London colleagues at Woodcut and Keshet International on the international version of this thrilling series.”
The series will look at infamous murder cases and killers including Fred and Rose West, Ed Gein, Jeffrey Dahmer, Marc Dutroux and Beverley Allitt, examining what made them commit their horrific crimes.
There will be first hand accounts from people who met the killers, as well as interviews with journalists, psychologist, and experts, and drama reconstructions. On Pick it will go out in a Thursday night slot.
“True crime continues to pull in viewers around the world and we couldn’t wish for a better platform in German speaking-Europe than RTL,” said Nelly Feld, head of sales and business development Europe, at Keshet International.
“World’s Most Evil Killers not only capitalises on this demand but also gives viewers the opportunity to look deeper into the motivations behind these notorious crimes and learn about the psychology that underpins each criminal’s actions.”
