BBC First among nets hearing A Word
BBC First in the Benelux region is among five buyers of Keshet International’s British drama The A Word.
UKTV in New Zealand, Polish pubcaster TVP, Brazilian cable and satellite provider Globosat, and South Korean public service network EBS are the other networks to acquire the BBC One six-parter, which soon launches a second season.
Amazon Prime Video in the US, Canada’s national pubcaster, CBC, BBC First in Australia, YLE in Finland, RUV in Iceland, HRT in Croatia, RTV in Slovenia, SVT in Sweden and Yes in Israel have already done deals for the show.
The series follows a British family including an autistic young boy who realise they have to communicate better.
Fifty Fathoms Productions coproduced the drama with Keshet UK, the British production wing of Keshet Media Group’s international arm.
The A Word is based on an Israeli format of the same name.
