Bristow hires Newroad Media founder
Julie Bristow’s Toronto-based production company has hired Marlo Miagza (pictured) to become its VP, content.
Miagza is a 20-year Canadian programming industry veteran who joins Bristow Global Media from her own prodco, Newroad Media. She will work with president and CEO Bristow to lead production and development.
Since its founding in 2013, BGM has produced shows for Bristow’s former employer, CBC, plus W Network, YouTube and CMT.
Miagza worked with BGM as a co-executive producer on Canada: The Story of Us, the Canadian version of Nutopia’s factual format The Story of Us.
She co-founded and Canuck indie Newroad in 2011, and became its co-president. The prodco counts as credits series including Discovery Channel and Science’s Close Encounters, Discovery Channel Canada and A+E UK copro Unusual Deaths and international copro My Wild Affair.
Miagza has also held roles at the Canadian Film Centre, and has produced a number of Canada films and TV series such as the late Peter Wintonick’s Cinema Verité: Defining the Moment and CBC comedies Tuning In and Jimmy MacDonald’s Canada.
