Rise staffing up, hires Betty, 7 Wonder execs
Rise Films has hired two new factual execs and is looking to bolster its team further.
The UK indie, which makes ITV comedy Plebs, has brought in Kate Morey as head of popular factual and Steve Condie as exec producer, factual.
Morey joins from Discovery-owned factual prodco Betty, where she was an exec producer. She has worked for serveral UK prodcos including Shine, Dragonfly, Love, Ricochet, and Maverick and her credits include First Dates and One Born Every Minute.
“Over the last decade, Teddy [Leifer] and his team at Rise have created an incredible body of work from the ongoing cult comedy hit, Plebs to Oscar nominated and Emmy award winning feature documentaries,” she said.
“The chance to join them and work with such a hugely talented team, as they expand into popular factual couldn’t be more exciting”.
Condie comes to Rise from 7 Wonder, the UK-based prodco backed by Australia’s Network Seven. He has also worked at factual indie Oxford Scientific and the BBC and his credits include Billy Connolly’s Tracks Across America, and Obesity the Post Mortem.
He said: “I am really delighted to be joining Rise, a company with such a vibrant, successful presence in different genres, and I believe we can bring some fresh and different thinking to factual television”.
In other changes, Megan Davis has been promoted to development producer, working across docs and specialist factual, and Guy Horlock has joined as production assistant.
Rise said it plans to bolster its team further and it is recruiting for a COO, a head of production and new development.
Rise managing director Teddy Leifer said: “Both Kate and Steve have great range and, culturally, that’s important at Rise – as we continue to grow a dynamic, multi-genre production business in the UK and US.”
