Ran Telem sets up first ever Finland/Spain drama

Scripted-logo-460_2Drama exec Ran Telem is working up a Finnish-Spanish crime drama.

Former Keshet exec Telem joined Spanish media giant Mediapro earlier this year, and alongside Mediapro’s David Troncoso, YLE drama chief Jarmo Lampela, and Noir author Matti Laine, is developing the new show.

The Paradise will be a thriller set among the Finnish community living in the Spanish seaside resort Fuengirola. Spanish and Finnish police are forced to cooperate after a series of crimes are committed at the resort.

YLE, the Finnish pubcaster, will show the show locally, with Mediapro expected to take it out to international markets. Its previous copros include Bordertown with France’s Federation Entertainment. Matti Lane was a writer on that show.

Mediapro’s TV copros meanwhile include Sky, HBO and Canal+ drama The Young Pope.

The company is in expansion mode having recently raised capital, to grow its international business. It recently opened an office in Argentina and teamed with esteemed local producer Daniel Burman.
